You’ve heard this a lot before: ”Breakfast is the most important meal of the day”. True that! Eat your most dense meals during the day, then start slowing down as you get less active.
Have you ever felt starving and your insulin levels shooting down and it is still early in the day? That is due to a poor breakfast choice. A combination of good fats and good carbs will energize you but most importantly it will keep you satisfied the entire morning, helping you make the right dietary decisions later on during the day.
I believe in not depriving my body from major food groups. Doing so is not sustainable and therefore you’ll quit on healthy habits because you’ve been missing out on foods your body will crave to survive. That being said, I must stress on the fact that carbs are not your enemy! Carbs provide you with 80% of your daily energy aiding in brain function; without enough carbohydrates in your diet you might experience hunger and weakness. Make sure you eat them early in the day so that you will have time to burn them off with exercise as the day passes.
Every time you are unsure of how to build a good plate, remember to include proteins, whole grains, vegetables, oatmeal, leafy greens, and colorful fruits.
You can workout all day, but if you are not giving your body a balanced nutrition all of that hard work goes out the window and your health will become shaky regardless of how good you may look on the outside.
